This laboratory setup is designed for the precise measurement and analysis of local flow velocity within a pipe using a Pitot tube. The apparatus features a transparent Acrylic test section where a standard-design Pitot tube, made of copper or stainless steel, is mounted and controlled via a Vernier scale. This scale enables the accurate measurement of the Pitot tube's position across the pipe's cross-section, which is essential for mapping the velocity field. A U-tube manometer is utilized to directly measure the velocity head (dynamic pressure). The system operates as a self-contained water re-circulating unit with flow control valves to vary the discharge, and the bulk flow rate is determined volumetrically using a measuring tank and stopwatch.
