Fixed & Fluidized Bed Apparatus

Product Code : SCL-CELE-14168

Overview

The Fixed & Fluidized Bed Apparatus is an advanced laboratory trainer designed to study fluid flow through fixed and fluidized beds of solid particles using both air and water as the working fluids. It provides a visual and analytical understanding of pressure drop, bed porosity, and the transition from fixed to fluidized conditions, demonstrating both particulate and aggregative fluidization phenomena.

The setup consists of two transparent test columns — one for air flow and one for water flow — allowing direct observation of the behavior of granular materials under different fluidization regimes. Comprehensive instrumentation, including variable area flow meters, manometers, and pressure gauges, ensures accurate measurement and control of all parameters.

This apparatus is ideal for studying the fundamental principles of chemical reaction engineering, fluid mechanics, and process design, particularly in systems involving filtration beds, catalyst reactors, and fluidized bed operations.
