This experimental apparatus is designed for the study and performance testing of a Reciprocating Pump (a positive displacement machine). The setup features a Double acting, single Cylinder pump coupled with an electrical motor, operating on a closed-loop water circulation system. Measurement of the total hydraulic head is achieved using Pressure and Vacuum Gauges connected to the delivery and suction sides of the pump. The flow rate (Discharge) is determined volumetrically using a measuring tank fitted with a piezometer tube and scale, in conjunction with an electronic stop watch. The primary goal is to determine the pump's efficiencies and map its characteristic performance curves.
