This
experimental apparatus is designed for the study and performance evaluation of
a Submersible Pump, which is typically an efficient multi-stage
centrifugal pump designed to operate fully submerged in the fluid it is
pumping. The setup functions as a closed loop water circulation system
and includes the submersible pump coupled with an electrical motor.
The total
head and suction conditions are monitored using Pressure and Vacuum Gauges
connected to the delivery and suction sides of the pump. The volumetric flow
rate (Discharge) is accurately measured using the dedicated Measuring
Tank (made of Stainless Steel and fitted with a Piezometer Tube and Scale)
and an electronic Stop Watch. The primary focus of the experiments is
calculating the pump's efficiencies and characterizing its performance across
various operating points.
